Many people ventured to Kingsport, Tennessee to celebrate summer fun with The 30th Annual Funfest.

Most of the events are outside and some are strenuous sporting events. Even though we didn't see a lot of the sun today it's still hot outside.

The 30th Annual Funfest is officially underway this weekend, hosting most of their events outdoors.

For example, the volleyball tournament.

While some stayed cool in the water, others had to find ways to enjoy the day without overheating.

Bo Dykes, a Tennessee Tech volleyball player, has competed in the tournament for five years now and says they normally play 12 long hours in the sun. "The heat is bad and getting burned and blistered. I never wear sunscreen, I always make that mistake and I get up the next morning and I can't even move cause I'm so burned and exhausted."

Area boy scouts held a miniature expo in hopes of recruiting more boys by showing them some of the fun activities they like fire starters, cooking and camping. And they practice these activities during the hottest part of the day; Between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Scout leaders like, Citizen Scout Master, Gary Davis, say they have to make sure their scouts don't get heat exhaustion. "We're asking them to stay hydrated. We have plenty of water, we have plenty of shade for them to get into and you know if anyone does get overheated we got first aid."

Another hot job, was putting up tents for the taste of tri cities.

Many vendors come out during Funfest to bring a taste of their restaurant to everyone.
